Curtis Joseph may be less than two weeks from turning 39 years old, but the Phoenix Coyotes goaltender appears far from finished. In his final audition before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, Joseph made 40 saves for his fourth shutout and the Coyotes ended their season with a 3-0 victory over the St.

Yzerman ties Lemieux for eighth on goals list in win



Steve Yzerman scored his 690th goal to tie Mario Lemieux for eighth place on the career list and help the NHL-leading Red Wings beat the Blues 4-1.

Avalanche 3, Blues 2



Joe Sakic and the Colorado Avalanche are closing in on first-place Calgary in the Northwest Division.

Sakic scored a power-play goal 57 seconds into overtime to give the Avalanche a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night and move them within a point of the Flames.

"It's fun being in this race," Sakic said. "It's fun knowing that every game means so much.

Yzerman scored his 690th goal to tie Mario Lemieux for eighth place on the career list and help the NHL-leading Red Wings clinch a playoff spot with a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Monday night.

However, you won't hear Yzerman compare himself to Lemieux.

"I don't really know the significance," Yzerman said. "If anything, it shows how good (Lemieux) is; he played almost five years less than I did.
